One of the most misused verses in the Bible is, “Judge not, that ye be not judged” (Matt. 7:1). Every Scripture verse should be read in its context, if we are to properly understand the true meaning. In verses 2-5 of this same chapter it is evident that verse 1 is referring to hypocritical judgment. A brother who has a beam in his own eye should not be judging the brother who may have a mote in his eye. The lesson is plain; you cannot judge another for his sin if you are guilty of sin yourself.
Those who cling to “Judge not, that ye be not judged, “ to condemn those who expose their error should read the entire chapter. Yeshua said, “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing… “ (verse 15). How can we know false prophets unless we judge them by the Word of YHWH? If we know the false prophets, how can we fail to exam the sheep of these “ravening wolves?” All through the Bible we find proof that they should be identified and exposed.
“Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree brings forth good fruit, but a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit” (verses 16-17). Did the Messiah mean that we could not judge the person, by the fruit of their life and doctrine? Certainly not, for you cannot know without judging. All judgment should be on the basis of Torah, not according to your whims or prejudices.
“Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment “ (John 7:24). Here our Lord commands that we are to “judge righteous judgment,” which is judgment based upon the Torah of YHWH. If judgment is made upon any other basis, other than the Torah of YHWH, it is a violation of Matt. 7:1. Webster’s Dictionary says that a judge is “one who declares the law.” The faithful follower must discern or judge on the basis of YHWH’s inspired law, the Whole Bible.
A fornicator is described in I Cor. 5:1-13. Paul “judged” (verse 3) the man even though he was absent, and he told the Assembly at Corinth that they were to “judge” (verse 12) those that were within. The Greek word for “judge” is the same here as in Matt. 7:1. Paul did not violate “judge not, that ye be not judged,” in judging the man, nor in instructing the Assembly to judge also. All of this judgment was according to the Torah of YHWH.
A person who is able to discern between good and evil, has at least one of the major marks of spiritual maturity. “But strong meat belongs to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil” (Heb. 5:14). I Cor. 12:10 says of discerning spirits, judging by evidence whether they are evil or of YHWH.”
Those who are unwilling or incapable of discerning or judging between good and evil are in this manner revealing either their disobedience or their immaturity.
There are those out there especially of the “new age” christianity theology (you know who you are) that believe that we should all “co-exist” and that the spirit they are hearing or seeing or smelling or whatever couldn’t be anything except of the light because they themselves are of “the light”. Did you not read, is it not written that Lucifer can masquerade as an angel of light. These people believe that if a rebuke makes them feel uncomfortable that the person offering the rebuke is of the devil. Have you tested the spirit as it says we are supposed to in the Word? Would you even know how to test the spirit based on the Whole Word of the Living God?
I say all that to say this, if I didn’t love each and every person I would not even bother sharing any thing let alone the truth that can set you feee. I have come out of her and embraced all of Him and all of His Living Word! I will not however suffer a fool. I am open to His truth. Not your version or wishful thinking of the truth. Not all foods are clean, if you believe so then you and I will never agree on anything. If you believe that the Torah is given to only “Jews” and not for the believers and followers of today, we will never ever agree, If you believe I follow the “law” to be saved or am being legalistic by believing, following and sharing the truths in the Torah, we will not be able to agree on anything. so in the name of the Most High and Precious name of my Messiah ,Yeshua, stay off my posts! If on the other hand you seriously want to learn and grow in Messiah and walk according to His Way and not according to how you “think” you should, I am only to happy to discuss anything and everything under the sun.
I bless you, you who persecute, you that hate, you that can’t stand what I share. I bless you in Yeshua’s name. I pray that, Father willing, your eyes and ears will be opened to His Truth according to His Understanding!
